How to turn on the keypad lights on a motorola razor?

My boyfriend just got this motorola razor and when he turns it on the keypad lights come on and then they shut off and u cant see the keys your typing in the dark. How do you turn the keypad lights on?|||try hitting the up or down arrow. mine does the same thing too|||go to settings, display....it should be there under "backlighting" ....you can even set it to stay on longer.
