How do i listen to music through wired headphones on my motorola q9h?

i wanna listen through ipod headphones on my motorola q9h using the usb adapter that comes with the phone. however when i plug everything in, i cant hear anything. what should i do?|||go to walmart and ask them do they have any headphones for a motorola q9h.
